Police Officers Escort Fallen Officer’s Son, 9, to First Day of School

Noah Swanger a 9-year old boy was headed to his first day of school this week.  His father would always accompany him on his first day, but this year things were different. His dad was not with him,

Officer Jason Swanger died on June 24 due to complications from COVID-19. He was a seven-year veteran of the agency and the second known LVMPD death related to the virus.

Even though Noah’s dad could not be with him on his first day as a 4th grader, his father’s fellow police officers were.

Noah’s dad was a Las Vegas police officer.

NThis was the first year that Noah Swanger’s father couldn’t walk him to class on his first day of school. But the 9-year-old wasn’t alone. Instead, Noah was escorted to by his late father’s fellow police officers.

“This is his connection to his dad and the police department, so it means a lot to him that they’re all here for him,” said Christa Swanger, Noah’s mom,  Noah also wants to be a police officer someday.

The sweet moment was shared on Twitter by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police. Video shows Noah hugging several officers on his first day of fourth grade.
